People in Need Is Looking for Livelihoods Interns for Its Syria/Turkey Mission/Based in West Aleppo Office



POSITION: Livelihoods Female Interns 

DUTY STATION: Aleppo Office

LINE MANAGER: Livelihoods – Sn. Officer

CLOSING DATE: 21st May 2023 


GENERAL POST DESCRIPTION:


the position is part of pin’s livelihoods unit, that delivers range of livelihood support activities in northwest syria, such as cash for work, business grants, agriculture support and community saving groups, in order to support self-reliance and resilience of communities in north west syria. pin is searching for female interns, for its livelihood department, to support the implementation of activities, mainly with female beneficiaries. at the same time, the position offers the opportunity for entry-level professionals with limited work-track record, to gain practical experience in the sector, within a well-established and professional organization. 


REPORTING AND COORDINATION LINES:


the interns directly report to senior officers of the respective sub-departments in the livelihood team, and follows the provided weekly plans and duties assigned by them. overall supervision is provided by the team leader. interns closely cooperate their daily tasks and movement with other team members (officers, assistants) assigned to the specific tasks and location of projects implementation. 


PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES (RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS):


the position holder, will assist with the following steps, under the guidance and supervision of the senior officer, and in cooperation with other team members:

 community engagement and information meetings

 selection of beneficiaries, review of applications and registrations from target community 

 overseeing the implementation of beneficiaries’ activities (e.g. visits businesses, cash for work locations and similar)

 monitor and report issues beneficiaries face, provide advice and report issues to line manager

 support delivery of the training and other group activities with beneficiaries 

 support distributions days and similar

 support organizing of events for beneficiaries (marketing days, networking days, coaching days)

 maintaining attendance sheets, distribution list and other needed documentation, as instructed

 support with maintaining programme related data, documentation and archiving, scanning of document and other programme-related administrative tasks

 report any issues that may hinder project implementation to the line manager


the position requires intense field-level work with the broader community and selected beneficiaries, and requires frequent travelling to the project locations.


DESIRED PROFILE OF THE CANDIDATES


TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:


• degree or least 2 years of university education in relevant field 

• previous work experience is not required, but previous short experience (e.g. as volunteers, short-term work) in relevant field (livelihoods, economic activities, social and economic empowerment, business development, coaching, trainings provision, field work with communities) is an advantage 

• deep understanding of local context and the way on how to motivate and empower vulnerable people, specifically women

• user knowledge of MS EXCEL, word POWERPOINT and outlook 

• Arabic language (mandatory)

• a strong commitment towards humanitarian relief and disaster operations; it is of utmost priority that candidates understand, respect and actively promote the spirit of the mandate and core humanitarian values, including: humanity and the humanitarian imperative, independence, impartiality, neutrality, and accountability in aid.


PERSONAL COMPETENCIES AND QUALITIES: 


• motivated to be intensively engaged in direct work with beneficiaries, including frequent travels to target locations


• able to motivate beneficiaries, provide guiding and encouragement, receive feedback

• good communication skills, able to engage with target beneficiaries in friendly and respectful manner

• willingness to learn and develop own skills

• flexible, pro-active

• understanding of NGO approach and values


       OTHER:


 other tasks assigned by employee’s line manager corresponding to actual needs of the mission, programs, and projects. 

 substitute relevant colleagues (fully or partially) during their absence when assigned by employee’s line manager. 

 understand and adhere to the mission’s national staff handbook, pin code of conduct, pin key policies and relevant guidelines.
